Nope, I think believing that the dating market is hopeless for you is a self-fulfilling prophecy. Maybe dating apps are, but that's not the only way to meet someone.

Have you considered volunteering at a pet shelter? Meals on Wheels, horse rescue, or some other community charity that can demonstrate you are a HVM, with enough resources and leisure time to devote to helping others? Wear a cowboy hat, pull your pants up, and do not put your cap on backwards. Don't forget to ask for help from the girl you like, show her you're not afraid to appear ignorant, and are willing to learn, change, to take advice from a woman who knows more than you (at least temporarily). You may have to go through several volunteer opportunities when your ignorance wears off. You can't fake it.
