This is why you don't hate watch. The studios have it built in that right-wingers getting mad at the latest trash coming out of Hollywood is their marketing strategy.

@LouisConde
Except, it's the oposite of marketing.

These shows are getting cheaper every episode.
Star wars can no longer afford to make movies, and they even gad to resurrect clone wars for the 3rd time, since the audience is dropping that fast.

My sis is a huge LOTR fan, and she knew rings of power will be shit.

They tried this strategy, because Twitter bots will eat shit, but they had one attempt to switch their current audience for the new one, and after ~7 years, the old audience is dead, and the new one still ain't coming.

It is a slow process though, and old fans had decades of good faith saved up, so it looed for a moment, like it was working.

3 trilogy star wars movies were both the least objective datapoints possible, and also all the proof Hollywood idiots needed.

is it the opposite of marketing? seems like them saying "lmao the nazis are mad at us because we did a heckin diversity" has worked for them pretty well so far. it's not sustainable of course but for now it's working.

No, the nostalgia is working. And they are killing it fast.

Tell me, where you saw it working, where a shitton of nostalgia and good will reservoir is not a suitable explanation.

@LukeAlmighty Worth noting is that the very point of a lot of this stuff is to destroy that nostalgia and good will. These people don't want to capture the franchise and troon it out and keep running with it, at least not in most cases. The point is to troon it out and then leave the husk on the ground where they found it. It's about cultural vandalism.

Imagine spray painting a dick on the Mona Lisa and smugly going "hah, I fixed it. Don't you think?" And if they say otherwise they lose their job and go homeless. It's a humiliation ritual.

Definitelly.
I am just shocked, that some nigga on the internet is capable of saying that 21 good movies in, there is no good will :blobcatdefecit:

i don't know that i'd say 21 "good" movies

i feel like i made a pretty good case for why goodwill/nostalgia didn't factor in to the captain marvel film considering a) marvel fans (aka the people with the goodwill and nostalgia toward marvel) didn't ask for the film and didn't go see it, and b) most of the marketing for the film centered around the filmmakers claiming that "nazis" were telling people not to go see the film. it wasn't marketed to marvel fans it was marketed to shitlib feminists who never cared about marvel movies or the captain marvel character and still didn't after the fact. goodwill and nostalgia didn't factor in to their decision to see them film and they didn't go see any other marvel films after that. they just took selfies of themselves at the theater for upcummies on twitter. that's not good will and that's not nostalgia, that's clout-chasing motivated by anger.
