Why the fuck cannot my monitor simply merge the 2 audio inputs I have connected into it? It cannot be that hard right?

What do you mean, that no normal person is using 4 electronic devices at once???
Well they would be, if their monitor could connect audio inputs 
@LukeAlmighty actually you need a mixer or some other dedicated hardware to do this. Most electronics are not equipped to handle more than one audio signal at once. They'll get overloaded and blow, or at the very least sound horrible. It's not as simple as you might think.
