Well, there are people who would call modern 9-5 to be slavery, so I definitelly see, that the debate about hystorical slavery can be dificult.
But my point is, that forced servedom was literally everywhere. And it takes a special kind of education to make someone believe, that it was done only by white people.

I guess, it comes down to the question, if saying "I quit" was legally an option.
And I am not educated on the topic enough to say if that was the case in this particular example most of the time.
Serfs enjoyed very little freedom in a lot of aspects, but they were not bought and sold.
