This is their official response to the backlash they got for adding a DRM into a 10 year old game. You cannot make this shit up. It's as if they're trying to be despised.

@LukeAlmighty oh fuck that. I bought Dead Space 3 many years ago on Steam and it worked perfectly. Then at some point EA pushed for adding EA launcher and other garbage to it, and when I wanted to re-play it, I had to download a pirate copy.

This is one reason I avoid buying vidya on Steam anymore. Sure, this isn't really Gabe's fault but the publisher's, but still I would love to be able to play the copy I bought, not the new borked version.
@LukeAlmighty IMO Steam is mostly good for indie shit, Valve releases, and some older titles. Buying AAA (even old ones) from Steam isn't something I would do if I can get these games from other sources.

@newt
Yeah, that's it.
As soon, as a game studio is big enough to have a launcher, I just ignore/pirate them completely.

they probably are. capcom's clearly headed by some dude with a tranny fetish. their usa HQ is in cali. not far fetched to think they're managed by the usual type who despises fans and does shit to piss them off on purpose like localizers do

@smugumin @LukeAlmighty Capcom JP is headed by the Tsujimoto family. Of whom a member is Ryozo Tsujimoto who is basically responsible for producing the Monster Hunter franchise for a long while and recently has been involved with Street Fighter as well. I don't think the higher ups in his family understand video games as much as he does, being more typical Japanese businessmen.
Their English side however definitely is trying to corrupt and subvert the company. They tanked the Dead Rising franchise when they took it away from JP development and put it in a western studio.
