It really hit me when I saw a Eurocrat in an interview say that expansion of the union to include Ukraine will be "extremely expensive for all existing members, but it is something we absolutely have to do".

Exactly. It is a globalist and utopean project with no reason left among it's supporters.
But that applies to all utopean globalist projects. I couldn't believe my eyes, when I read 17 goals of UN, and I believed half of them to be outright evil.
But is it even safe these days to say, that UN is an evil organization? I doubt it.
