I love how "people" are dehumanizing JK Rowling for saying, that women give birth....
But, noone is in the slightest insulted by the fact, that her entire book is based around a claim, that mothers love is a holy magic, while a fathers love is "just some feefee".
@LukeAlmighty it was his mom that protected him. His mother and father combined still helped him face voldemort later, and his patronus was derived from his father as well.
Snape's patronus changed into a doe, which was lily's, because he loved her so much. Love is kind of just an overall theme in Harry Potter.
