Actually, switching the software generation makes a perfect sense, but you have to also understand, that the issue is not with the students, but with teachers. People get out of the school, where teachers know the "industry standart", but they are placed to a room with blender. They will be useless for a few years. Or, god forbid, they expected 2d drawing, only to be placed in front of Blender.
But, after a decade or two, even a boomer can notice the change and learn to use the new tools, so now new hires know what they will be working with again.
