@VD15 It kinda depends how you define quality in the case of the AK. Sure it functions in basically any condition, but it's not exactly the most accurate of weapons of it's class.

@alyx the only piece of quality soviet engineering that I can name is the kalashnikov and that thing's development was fueled almost exclusively by sexual tension between the designer and the artist.
