I've literally made this same observation for several years now.
In a lot of cases, if you replace the word "gender" with "personality" in their propaganda, it will suddenly make 90% more sense.
@alyx with the one difference being that "personality" has no legal protections so you can't use it as a weapon, if you're tinfoil-oriented, there's your lizard people plot.
@alyx legal protection is based on a number of factors that are about specific properties of an individual, so going this was gets you a lot more bang for your buck. There's no special protection for doing something bad just because you're "you" but be "religion X" and suddenly it's okie-dokie.
@cereal @alyx What if I identify as Egogender? My pronouns are I/Me/My, and I hope you will respect my gender identity of being not just an individual, but the only individual. Or at the very least, the only individual that matters. It's not just being the individual, it's my gender, my religion, my race, and my political ideology.
