They don't see Fedi as a threat. Remember, when they started going after Gab, their app was quite popular in app stores. Parler, same thing, it started becoming popular. As long as Fedi remains a small platform overall, they won't even look in it's direction.

The concept isn't hard to understand, and I think I've seen another normie getting the idea. The question is whether they would actually end up joining, and whether they'd prefer going to small instances/making their own vs blindly going for the biggest one there is.

That's why I don't want Fedi to "go mainstream". That will just ruin it for all of us.
