Here's the thing, it's not the government that ultimately ensures the government respects the constitution. That's just circular nonsense. It's the people who have the supreme power in such a matter. So the question is, when will the people decide to enact their power, however they may desire, against these corporations?

@alyx @histoire reminder that the constitution is actually enumerating rights given to you by God and is not actually just an optional guideline to be followed so long as it doesn’t get inconvenient.

Personally I don't believe in god, rather I believe those rights are a direct consequence of our features as human beings. For example, we have the right to free speech, because communication is a primary trait that differentiates us from animals. Another example, if we had evolved from plants, I expect the Constitution would have granted rights to access sunlight.
