@matrix @alyx every security update, since 4 that I remember, has made it harder to treat Android like a real platform (Linux with OpenBSD userspace and each app with its own userid -- both great ideas) instead of a walled garden for spyware. Termux is keeping up, but
https://www.spartacusrex.com/terminalide.htm allowed you to develop and install android apps locally and it's been dead for ages. And simple stuff like saving a file to the SD card to read from another app has been impossible for a while. On my last phone I couldn't even do anything about 5GB of storage used because it was all downloaded memes on an earlier version of android that literally no app could see, to even delete.
Next device might be iOS, because as terrible as Apple is, there's no difference anymore.
