Does this art style even have a name, or sould I just call it Niggercore?

@LukeAlmighty
I dare anyone to look me in the eyes and tell me this guy doesn't look ridiculous precisely because their art is a mess.
@alyx Fuck,
One shadow level, one light level, next to no details on texture, and they put that into a realistic car, Then blast it with film grain, chack frames, and nigger music....
Noone will remember this 2 days after the release. So, same as usual for NFS at this point.
@LukeAlmighty
Some of the effects make me wonder if they wanted a Scott Pilgrim (the movie) look. But at least that was trying to adapt a comic book. I don't think there's a comic book surrounding a ghetto group doing underground racing.
@LukeAlmighty
At least EA has the courage to present black people as criminals in one of their games. That's something.
@alyx People are already compating this to "into spiderwerse"
HELL NO.
1) Spiderverse had detailed shading, not cell shading, and definitelly not this single-layer of shadows shading.
2) In spiderverse, materials were still represented in textures. (you can see the wool on the shirt)
3) Aditional lines have been added over the face to highlight emotions and highlight face shape.
4) In spiderverse, the "junk frames" were not 5 times per second.
@LukeAlmighty
I haven't watched the movie, but from what I can tell from clips and trailers, the style was consistent. I don't remember seeing live action actors among the CGI/cartoonish scenes.
@LukeAlmighty
Doesn't matter anyway. It's still gonna be a trash game, with trash AI, plagued with rubber banding that punishes good driving.
@alyx And microtransactions... Don't forget microtransactions.
@LukeAlmighty
I think this says it all. When you have a community that is begging for support before the game is even released, what hope can you possibly have that there is an actual soul behind the fancy graphics?
@Kagekokoro @alyx
I like need for speed Underground 2. :D
@Kagekokoro @LukeAlmighty
That and Most Wanted 2005. The franchise dropped like a concrete block in water after that.
@Kagekokoro @LukeAlmighty
I mostly have nostalgia for the old games. I played some Porsche Unleashed recently and loved it (again).
@alyx
I would recommend it even if only for the art style.
But yes, there were no realistic rrenders in it. That would be retarded.
@LukeAlmighty
Look at this... the car looks great. Well in line with what you can expect from the genre. Realistic graphics that quickly immerse you, and make you take the game serious.
But then you do a mockery of the characters, and the immersion gets instantly broken. I'm sorry, but I just can't take your token protagonist serious when this is how you place him into the world.
You can't add a few smoke trails and pretend you don't have a photorealistic aesthetic. Either you take the plunge, and stylize the cars too, or gtfo.
