If you can grow biomass as fast as you use it, you technically reabsorb the CO2 from burning it. So you'd get the net zero. But that ignores the energy costs of processing, transporting, etc.

@alyx @thor yeah it’s pretty stupid, granted paper can be recycled but so can plastic. plastic is also a lot firmer, especially straws. i even know some environmentally conscious people who find the plastic straws extremely impractical

there’s also the fact that, while plastic ending up in the sea is tragic, this is mostly the fault of large corporations rather than the average consumer. yet those same corpos all fingerpoint at us. it’s a blackpill

Yeah, I have some personal plastic straw reserves. The hilarious bit, is that supposedly some big fast food franchises did invest money into machines to recycle the plastic straws.
