what's your favorite horror movie and why?
mine is either "as above so below" or "annihilation."
AASB: i love the whole inferno motif, the alchemy stuff, and having a horror movie set in catacombs is pretty spooky. the acting is actually really good too, most of the time horror movies have shit acting, maybe in part due to shit writing. it's unlike any horror movie i've ever personally seen. it's got a Tomb Raider vibe to it also, with a female protagonist with an English accent going to visit an ancient burial ground to find an artifact and getting more than she bargained for.
Annihilation: the story is a bit of a mindfuck, but it's not really the story that i care about here, it's the atmosphere. the way nature has taken over everything and the music that accompanies it just really carry a Last of Us vibe, and then you have some supernatural kind of shit happening too that make for great sort of "set pieces." the premise is pretty cool too and there's some great visceral imagery.
@LukeAlmighty i never saw it. from the trailers it just looked kind of stupid to me and i'm not a big fan of shyamalan. idk if it was actually good or not though.
it's kind of hard for me to get excited about a movie or game all my friends are super excited for when many times they just do not gel with me (all the marvel stuff, the new god of war, hellblade, just to name a few). i really have to be interested in it personally to want to experience it.
@beardalaxy Yeah, that's ok.
Shyamalan is seriously a high-risk director, that makes his every movie quite unique. So, I fully understand, why he's more famous for Avatar then for Split.
And don't worry, I will keep my hype train for other recomendations :D
