@thor @alyx from my perspective, there is more action in a game of soccer than there is in a game of football.

football has like 10 seconds of action and then 5 minutes of nothing, stretching out a 60 minute game to 3 fucking hours.

soccer is a 90 minute game where the players are always on the move. the ball is always on the move. there are always things to look for, and appreciate a team's strategy and movement.

soccer is more of a thinking man's sport, football is more of a monkey brain sport. not knocking football, i just can't stand sitting down and watching it. i think a big part of football is actually not the game itself, but the environment of watching it and the culture around it. this is coming from an american standpoint of course, because in europe the same is true for soccer but that's not really a thing in the states.

although i think that in order to enjoy watching soccer, you need to enjoy playing it as well. much like esports, you won't enjoy watching a game you don't like to play or don't know how to play. that's not true about hockey, which has a similar violence level to football but has the same ratio of action to bullshitting as soccer (maybe even more playtime since at least once a soccer game you can guarantee someone is going to be rolling on the ground like a pussy).
