@lamp pedophilic disorder isn't even diagnosed if it doesn't cause distress. pedophilia in general is incredibly sensationalized/weaponized and i would consider that a bad thing because when it gets like that, i believe it CAN cause distress. people get in their own head about it and start to freak out, maybe get depressed or do something rash. especially if there is something like childhood trauma that caused someone to think this way, or other mental issues.

even though many of my views are controversial (the circle i'm visiting just changes which ones are), i try my best to be as level-headed as possible and not let sensationalism get to me if i can help it. i feel like people wanting to kill/maim or otherwise harshly punish pedophiles are very similar to say, people who want to punch nazis or remove their rights for saying things they disagree with. two sides of the same coin. beliefs and thoughts should not be met with actions, they should be met with civilized debate, study, and philosophy.

killing or torturing someone who has technically done nothing wrong (and may have just had wrong done to them) is highly unethical and heartless from my point of view.

it's highly hypocritical when it is coming from people who advocate for free speech and to be left the fuck alone because they aren't doing anything harmful. you know that people who disagree with what you have to say would strip you of your rights (or worse) in an instant if they could, so why is it okay to do that to others?

two relevant quotes below:

Sorry try again, you destroy a child life and you want me to give you a chance to do it again or even do it. It's a very dangerous mental illness and destroy children that have 0 ways of defending themselves I'll that take burned on my back poor victims. Some things cannot be cured and if you are a pedophile I'd advise to you to cure yourself before others do it.
It's not a rabid dog's fault it contracted rabies, but it still needs to be put down regardless.

@Hoss @beardalaxy @Mackiavelli13 Is it really like rabies though? If it's merely the passive ability to get sexually aroused, I'd think it be no harder to manage than sexual attraction to adults.

I've only known one pedophile, whom said they have a "line" and only consumed lolicon content. They seemed like a perfectly fine person, but seemed to be under tension of the social stigma. I don't know them anymore, but are you saying there's a good chance they might cause harm in the future?

it always starts by small things like drugs or anything that creates dopamine. One day it will lead them to more and more . And I'd rather not let them have that chance. Such is life.

@Mackiavelli13 @lamp @Hoss that's just eugenics, which i believe is highly unethical. it's hard for me to wrap my head around the idea that some people would rather have people be killed for no more than thoughts. you are willing people to escalate those thoughts with your rhetoric. you want to believe so much that these people are going to be horrible enough to actually harm a child so that you can demonize them, rather than offering some help and preventing that from occurring. it's highly irrational.

Keep it between you and a shrink. If you're out and about telling people what you are and that you're "non-offending" all I see is a criminally degenerate individual trying to normalize their attractions.

@Hoss @Mackiavelli13 @lamp if you went to a therapist and said "i'm a pedophile" and they asked if you were under distress or causing other people distress, then you were just like "nah, some guy told me to come to therapy because i'm attracted to children, but i don't think i'm gonna' do anything about it and it doesn't affect my life at all," they'd probably just send you home and wonder why you were there in the first place. it isn't a problem unless it causes problems.

although i will agree that i get annoyed when people make the fact that they are a pedophile their whole personality, much like gay people who do that or people putting their pronouns in their bio. that behavior is kind of degenerate, i wish people would just act like human beings instead of caricatures. i do think that a lot of the time it's virtue signaling of sorts.

@beardalaxy @Hoss @Mackiavelli13 @lamp

Never, ever, tell a therapist something that someone could construe as a reason to judicially take away your rights. It is sad that we've gotten to the point where a shrink is obligated to take what it likely nothing and end up reporting information that will forever make you second class citizen/subject.

If you know you are no harm then you don't even joke about it with some credentialed shrink.
The point I was making is that people with such compulsions who truly don't want to act on them should be rightfully terrified of telling people what they are outside of the context of legally confidential medical care. If you're loud and proud about your desires I have no confidence that you are truly a "non-offending" individual.
@Hoss @Mackiavelli13 @beardalaxy @lamp @LoliHat I don't really see the correlation. Everyone with a modicum of tech knowledge can be loud on the Internet without repercussions.

And with how often I see people throwing "pedophile" around, I'd even say some are loud and proud because they'd rather spite the accuser knowing their anonymity is unbreachable.
Of course, those actually proud and loud are suspicious, it's weird to scream that you'd really love to do it but you'll never do it constantly. :kekw:

@Immahnoob @Mackiavelli13 @lamp @Hoss @LoliHat the whole "doing it to spite you" is like Ethical Pedophile on here lol. literally does it just to piss people off and god dammit it works. i don't think he's even actually a pedophile, just a shitposter.

I don't care stop watching drawings and thinking it wont fuck you up to the point of doing harm it probably will and if not you'll become a idiotic coomer.

@Mackiavelli13 @LoliHat @lamp @Immahnoob @Hoss my time to be an absolute retard was back in middle and high school. seriously, i fucking hate who i was back then. honestly, if anything, "watching drawings" has helped me far more than it ever hurt me. i log on to fedi and see anime asses all over the timeline and instead of having my hypersexuality (i have mini bipolar basically) affect me in my daily life it has toned down a lot because of that. sex isn't always on my mind to the point of doing stupid shit like it used to be. i feel really comfortable with myself and really healthy as opposed to back then when i was forced to hide and suppress it all and it would get me into trouble often.

@beardalaxy @Mackiavelli13 @lamp @Immahnoob @Hoss

>my time to be an absolute retard was back in middle and high school.

Those are the times to be focused and serious.

Only when one learns how to play life straight can one truly know how to be a fool.

@LoliHat @Mackiavelli13 @lamp @Hoss @Immahnoob yeah, they're supposed to be. i just was in no condition to be there. for me it turned out to be the opposite: only when one experiences being a fool can they truly know how to play life straight.

i learned the hard way, which hopefully means i can extend that toward my children. my parents, i know they cared about me, but they just had no idea what they were doing and their definition of "caring" didn't line up to what i actually needed to succeed. especially my father (my mother was just depressed for my entire childhood and was pretty passive about everything) wanted me to be his version of successful, and i was pushed that way despite not wanting it and it really fucked me up. my actions are my own, of course, but seeing that and realizing it, i hope i can not just provide for my children physically like my parents did, but emotionally too. my brother and sister have similar thoughts on that and went through some of the same stuff that i did.

@beardalaxy @Mackiavelli13 @lamp @Hoss @Immahnoob

>when one experiences being a fool can they truly know how to play life straight.

Just remember that knowing how to be a known fool doesn't mean you know how to play it straight... jut not play it as a particular fool.

And that's the sad truth of civilization. It's not about knowing what to avoid... but about what you shouldn't avoid but rather embrace. Trial and error has been the usual method.

Know how to shorten that.
@LoliHat @beardalaxy @Hoss @Mackiavelli13 @lamp :asui_what: I don't get this whole "play it straight, don't play the fool" metaphors you guys are constructing here.

It sounds like there's more to it than just the direct meaning.
I don't see it as such though, I think kids should fool around as much as they can with shit that isn't permanent like addictions, of course.
I'm ok with how I ended up (I didn't fool around), but I'm me, and other kids were retarded. :kekw:

@Immahnoob @Mackiavelli13 @lamp @Hoss @LoliHat basically, don't be a jackass and just be a good person, is kind of how i interpret it. if you know how to be a good person, then you know when it is appropriate to be a bit of a jackass. if you were a jackass for a long time, you know how to avoid doing things that a jackass would and be a good person instead. that's the best way i can describe it with 3am brain lol.
