@theTDC it's not even out yet, watch it be bad. People need to stop pre-ordering digital games.

@beardalaxy @theTDC What's the idea with pre-ordering anyway?
I've never gone to the store and had them tell me "nope we're all out of Call of duty!"
@Bill_Boone @beardalaxy @theTDC some games let you pre-install so you can experience all the bugs and crashing multiplayer servers immediately on release.

@Bill_Boone @theTDC you sometimes get little mementos with them which can be cool, although these days it's usually just "you get 10 gun coins so you can upgrade your weapon to max, as well as this exclusive skin!" Nintendo usually does physical items for physical pre-orders though.

It's also nice for physical games so you can secure a copy for it, and in the case of gamestop at least they usually release at 10pm instead of 12am so you get a little bit of extra time with the game.

But for digital games, the only real reason to pre-order is if you want to pre-load the game. So maybe that's good for people on slow connections or something, and at least on steam you can get a refund, but still... It's mostly pointless.

@beardalaxy @Bill_Boone @theTDC
Fuck "we will skip half the game for you" DLC. And it's infinitely worse as a pre-order bonus that cannot be turned off.

@LukeAlmighty @Bill_Boone @theTDC a lot of people complain that pso2 is "pay to win" because you can buy stuff with real money, sell it for in game money, then buy the best gear... But that just means you don't get to play the game anymore lol. The whole point of the game is grinding.

@Bill_Boone @beardalaxy @theTDC it used to happen sometimes before digital became a thing

now it's mostly if the game gives you a bonus or something, or as a show of support. like i'll pre-order games from devs i really like or respect for instance
