@matrix someone has already made a mod optimizing overdrive
https://www.nexusmods.com/cyberpunk2077/mods/8059
it reduces light bounces from 2 to 1 and decreases the length of rays. you can get "up to double the fps" but realistically it's like 10 more. seems like it might be a solid option!
obviously you are removing some of the accuracy, but it still looks better than standard raytracing and the character lighting is still great, which is honestly the main thing i care about.
@icedquinn @matrix someone was gonna say it lmao. look at the new shadows being cast throughout the entire scene.
@icedquinn @matrix i mean, it won't be everyone's cup of tea. personally i prefer rasterized lighting to ray tracing in most situations (when it comes to the lighting of a scene, reflections get btfo'd) but this path tracing stuff is another thing entirely.
@beardalaxy Fuck, I already deleted the game, but oh well, it's not that big compared to this year's AAA
That looks still pretty decent. Portal RTX gets a big boost from lowering bounces to 1, however the difference is pretty big there if you know where to look.
I'm waiting for phantom liberty too.
@matrix here is a comparison shot between psycho rt (left) and modded overdrive (right). even cut back a bit, it still looks so much better. still obviously a huge hit to FPS but dammit it might be worth it.
unfortunately, as excited as i am about it, i'm still waiting for phantom liberty to come out to revisit the game xD
