One thing I am seriously looking forward in the next few years would be AI dub game translations.

It would be nice to be able to show many games to parents, while they would also understand the sounds in the game.

BTW, it's such a pain. Why are game devs too lazy to add a czech dubbing? :konata_cry:

@LukeAlmighty I don't think it's laziness. A lot of games come in a shit ton of languages already. Czech is a pretty niche language, so it's more like it's not worth the trouble. English, Chinese, Spanish, French, Italian, Portuguese, German, Russian are usually the big ones, sometimes you get some others thrown in there like Ukrainian, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, or Japanese. Especially lately.

Game devs don't know how to properly deliver and compress all of this though so it really bloats the file size. It is very common for repacks to omit them unless you want them to make the file size smaller.

Part of it is just that so many people in your country speak other, more popular languages as well. You're not going to find many games translated even to something like Swedish because a lot of those people either speak German or English too, at least enough to play the game. It's not just about paying Czech voice actors or something but also hiring translators, audio production staff that understands the language, not to mention the extra work that needs to happen which will extend development time.

I wouldn't use any type of automated translation for my games honestly, because the truth is that I wouldn't know exactly what was being conveyed and I don't want that low quality association. That's something that modders should have the ability to do though for sure, you expect a lot more rough edges from a mod.

@beardalaxy @LukeAlmighty cyber sleuth blew up on steam player count wise when a Spanish translation dropped because digimon is big in Latin America

@beardalaxy
I don't think, that in the age of digital distribution the language argument means anything, considering you can just have a single language downloaded at the time.

@LukeAlmighty that's what i'm saying! it NEEDS to be that way. i really wish steam would just come out with a language selector when you download your game that devs could start using. or just sell your game in english and have free DLC for the other language packs. it would cut down file size quite a bit.

@LukeAlmighty wait does it really? Language installs? Maybe I've just never seen it because English is default. That's crazy.
