vitiligo in games rant (i have vitiligo)
everything else aside, i fuckin hate how vitiligo is portrayed in games. something about it just looks like it's painted on. even in games that have much more focus on realism, it just... it doesn't look real. i get the feeling that the artists don't even actually know how vitiligo looks like so they just throw a bunch of white splotches at the wall and hope for the best.
maybe one day there will be some character in a video game with vitiligo where the skin texture for them was actually made with a scan of someone's real skin, but right now man it just looks like ass.
and that's alongside the fact that i just don't like the push for vitiligo in games as is. it just feels 100% like putting it in a video game is only for social brownie points, diversity/inclusion shit you know? every time i see it i just want to cringe and i never apply it to my character. idk, it just makes me feel gross that my disorder is being used by people to make them feel like they're doing something righteous or whatever.
@beardalaxy I get where you're coming from. Especially in regard to the abomination that is Dustborn. But I'd like to add that it looks really nice on some people - much like heterochromia iridum.
@illythekid in video games, though?
@beardalaxy generally

@beardalaxy they never show white people with vitiligo, too
I don't think they realize that they can even have it
