@xianc78 lol why the fuck would toby fox care he lives in japan
this is definitely a joke anyway, "if you're one of the 5 deltacordians old enough to vote" lmao
@beardalaxy Joke or not, Sakurai better not pass the Super Smash Bros torch to him.
@xianc78 is that even up for debate? i don't think he'd do that. toby fox doesn't really have what it takes and i think he realizes that too. he's not a fighting game director. he makes funny little RPGs.
@beardalaxy Well Sakurai did pass the torch of his column on Famitsu to him. It seems like Toby Fox is now his closest friend in the industry since Iwata passed away.
He's also friends with Itoi as well. A lot of people don't realize this, but Toby Fox actually asked Itoi if he could make Mother 4. Itoi told him to make Deltarune first, so we might actually see an official Mother 4 one day, and I honestly rather not. Some series were made to be short. Mother is definitely one of them.
@xianc78 yeah, a column isn't quite the same as a specific game though. i think sakurai is aware enough to know what toby is good at. i wish itoi was still making games.
does mother 3 have anything to do with mother 2 at all other than like, the gameplay? i haven't played it but it seems pretty far removed in terms of story.
mother 4 came out in 2015 already. winter 2015 to be exact! ;)

Mother 3 seems to be disconnected from the first two games, at first, but the main antagonist is revealed to be Porky from Mother 2 after time traveling to an unknown era. It isn't much of a spoiler because the ending of Mother 2 basically hinted that he would play a major role in the third game.
Mother 3 probably has more ties to Mother 2 than Mother 2 had ties to Mother 1. Mother 2 might as well be a retelling of the first game. The only evidence of it being a direct sequel is the first part of the game where it says "Gigyas Strikes Back".

I really hope Oddity eventually releases, despite me not being that much of a Mother fan. I really dig the 1970s aesthetic.
@xianc78 i seem to remember something about mother 1 having some version of giygas that's more like humanoid? idk i've never actually played the games.
oddity does look awesome... there's just been so much shit with that game, i don't think it's ever coming out honestly. silksong will come out before we hear anything else about it.
