The reason why I am so critical about the Star Fox 64 and Ocarina of Time remakes on the Switch 2 is because I feel like N64 nostalgia hit it's peak almost a decade ago (just from people talking about it on YT among other places). It feels like Nintendo is jumping in on the bandwagon way too late, and they already done it once on the 3DS anyway.

It seems like more people are nostalgic for the GameCube, GBA, Wii, and DS right now. As much as people don't want to admit it, it's true. The GC and Wii Zelda's have already been ported to recent consoles, and I don't see them remaking Minish Cap as Capcom was also involved, but maybe it's an opportunity to remake Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks and make them less shit.

@xianc78 for star fox, it's definitely because they want to push the series into the mainstream but have had trouble doing it. If you can nail a 64 remake, that's the easiest way to get that done. Obviously they have tried it three times now more or less, but I think this time around it actually has legs.

For oot, it's straight up the highest rated game of all time. They've got a Zelda movie coming out. I wouldn't be surprised if another mainline Zelda is coming soon. It's a great time to pull out a game that is universally praised to help sell consoles and maybe even get the newer generation of Zelda fans into a more traditional Zelda feeling.

Just my two cents. It definitely feels like they aren't just random remakes, like the 3ds ports just because they could. Fox was in the Mario Galaxy movie too. They are building up to something for sure. My crackhead theory is that they are building up to a new smash with all these classic Nintendo character redesigns in it. at the very least they are hoping to get newer players back into these franchises in a way they haven't seen before, while also enticing older players to hop back in and grab a switch 2.

I thought it's been confirmed that Monolith Soft is working on the next one.

>Fox was in the Mario Galaxy movie too.

Or it could be just to create hype for the movie itself because who doesn't like a good crossover.

@xianc78 no confirmations. i've heard people talking about how if there is a mainline zelda coming soon, monolith soft will probably be working on it in some capacity. but that's just because they've helped on botw/totk as well.

rumors of star fox movie in production, actually.
