@phnt@fluffytail.org @beardalaxy@gameliberty.club tim epic has some shitty takes too but his whole business is pc games so surely not
@phnt@fluffytail.org @beardalaxy@gameliberty.club doesn't help that they haven't put out a good game since they dropped the mega
@phnt@fluffytail.org @beardalaxy@gameliberty.club tears of snore sucks ass. i do have to correct myself though, they released unreal tournament and 2k4 as epic games but 2k4 was their last good game
@beardalaxy
To be honest, capcom makes it really hard to be a fan, and I asked myself the same question many times before...
But then, I turn on MH Rise, and forget all about it in seconds.
@beardalaxy
So, what I wanted to say is, that the comparasiom is still fucking valid, but damn... They make great games, they just don't want you to buy them.
@LukeAlmighty they do have pretty steep sales relatively often. i've seen re7's full edition on sale for like $5 several times now.
to me, they've had tons of issues obviously, but the games themselves are still pretty damn good. ubisoft has some real stinkers in the gameplay department. i feel like too, as far as microtransactions go, even though capcom has some crazy ones you can play the game easily without them. ubisoft's game design feels more hostile in trying to push you towards buying the microtransactions.
it's like how nintendo is able to have high prices and they absolutely hate people making fan games and use lawfare like it is going out of style, but their games are so fucking good it's hard to care about that enough to not play them.
@beardalaxy
Want to hear what I think is the funny part?
I don't think even the quality is the main issue.
It's the launchers. My stomach just turns when I think about buying anything on U-play. From time to time I think about playing Far Cry 3, and then I remember U-play, and the mood is gone.
They just have no idea, what kind of impact does the lack of exposure, disgust etc actually have. And the problem with culture is, that it's not a singular multyplier, but a compounding one over time.
The less people play, the less people talk and less people feel the need to join in. If Assassins creed was on Steam, you would still see your friends play it from time to time. Now, you just don't know the games exist outside of youtube.
@beardalaxy@gameliberty.club i remember their ceo going on years and years back about how they're ok with their pc ports being awful because 95% of pc gamers are pirates anyway
i'm not interested in any of their games either way so to me ubisoft's just "that game company with the asshole ceo". i don't know if they're any better now and don't really care
