@LukeAlmighty i hate working from home, legitimately HATE it.
@LukeAlmighty i just hate having my work environment in the same place my relaxing environment is.
@beardalaxy
And I love living in a ralaxing place my whole day, and having the option to use the gaps in schedule productively. I also LOVE not feeling judged over the slightest of movements. I love ability to heat up my office to the perfect temperature. And even add scents when I feel like it.
@LukeAlmighty different strokes different folks
@LukeAlmighty@gameliberty.club @beardalaxy@gameliberty.club That's the selling point, sure. But a big caveat is that work-from-home prevents forming strong memories. I remember many funny stories from the office days and I'm far from an extrovert. The WFH era is all a blur by comparison. Nothing happens. :lepolface:
I have to dedicate a whole room of my house to work now. The company is saving TONS of money on office space, offloading the cost onto YOU, and you're happy about it? Not to mention it makes offshoring much more justifiable; we're all global, mobile workers, so might as well contract Patesh's team to work on this critical infrastructure. Oh, but since you can't just go into his OFFICE to see what he's doing, we need several meetings per day, all crammed within the short timeframe that offshore and onshore are both online.
There's ups and downs to it, but I certainly prefer the old-school office. Were it not for the fact that I'm getting paid sweet Californiabuxx, I would have jumped over to a traditional office job.
@bruh_momento @beardalaxy
What aditional cost is the employer offloading onto me? I have to pay my rent even when I'm not at home.
@LukeAlmighty@gameliberty.club @beardalaxy@gameliberty.club There's things we would get for free at the office, like once-a-week free lunches, snacks, and drinks, which you now have to pay for yourself.
Primarily, though, it is the space that the WFH office is now using, assuming you aren't reusing your personal room. Physical offices would cost the company a lot of money. Now the company is saving that money and making you use your own personal house space to work.
@bruh_momento @beardalaxy
You are literally using a "piracy is theft" logic, but backwards.
Company not spending money is not they stealing from you. Come on man...
@LukeAlmighty@gameliberty.club @beardalaxy@gameliberty.club I did not argue the company is "stealing" from you directly, but rather, you're being forced to pick up the slack for services they're no longer offering, which sucks. It's the same reason why I dislike self-checkout: company saves money while you have to do what they used to provide. It's the principle of it that bothers me.
@bruh_momento @beardalaxy
> But a big caveat is that work-from-home prevents forming strong memories.
Are you a parody account or an overpayed Indian?
@LukeAlmighty@gameliberty.club @beardalaxy@gameliberty.club First of all, rude. Second, perplexing that you would insult me as Indian after I just crapped on offshoring in the post you are replying to. Third, my statement makes sense if you have had my background of a small company with competent and pleasant coworkers. There were fun things that happened there -- memories -- which don't happen staring at a screen at home.
I don't expect you to understand my point of view, as we're on completely different wavelengths. Rather, I wanted to give a contrary opinion for anyone else reading, as I've only seen "WFH good" lately.
@bruh_momento @beardalaxy
Ok,it might have been rude, but that's because this is the exact point I am trying to make.
This line is insane. This exact line is the cheapest of "unfalsifyables" that are used by the boomers who fight against the option to work from home tooth and nail. And I just want to get as far away from them as possible. I hate normies with burning passion. I don't care about their small talk, pretending I didn't do my "day long" work in 10 minutes is exhausting.
And when I am home, I can be on Doscord talking to actual humans I care about, or better yet, take care of my family. When my mom had a stroke, I spent few weeks with her. It was important, and it is a million times more important then the "memory" of seeing Karren's dog piss on the floor.
@bruh_momento @beardalaxy
And, I got reported today by a coworker for not saying "hello" enough. Foid obviously...
What a NICE MEMORY!!!
@LukeAlmighty@gameliberty.club @beardalaxy@gameliberty.club Sorry that happened to you. If you have only had crappy coworkers like that, then I understand wanting work-from-home to get away from them.
@beardalaxy
Nothing worse then...
*checks the notes
Waking up 5 minutes before the shift starts, eating exactly what you want, and having calm work environment with noone bothering you.
