@hideki I love seeing this stuff. You make this with nodes or some special plugin?
Also this music is bumpin! What's it from?

@Meier no it's all normal modeling, just made 36 buildings and the rest are just rotated and moved around versions of the same ones. I guess with nodes it would have been faster, but i cannot use geometry nodes at this time.

Basically is a more simplified version of this technique:

@hideki well it looks really cool! Maybe I can make a generator in houdini based on this process. :fren: that would be fun.

@Meier thanks!

Well i guess you can make these procedurally too but then maybe you would need to use real building window textures instead of just projecting a photo of a city like in this case...

@hideki I could prob get away with using a photo but it would look super repetitive after a while.
Maybe I could just auto unwrap the sides and leave some fancy material in Unreal or something to do the heavy lifting on the windows.
:thonk: prob would need to group unwrap them slightly differently to get more variation.

@Meier taking the example of the video, i didn't used only one photo, i used seven different ones precisely so it could look diverse enough.

@matrixsasuke Yeah i think mastodon re-encodes the videos sometimes and this happens

@hideki Good job! Felt like the intro of a retro game.

PS: At first I didn't notice that the cars are static but eventually it catched my eye.

@Reinhard thanks! yeah the cares are there sitting still :comfyxd: i didn't wanted to spend too much time on a 2 day project.
