I'm gonna talk you like a Rei fan, i'm 100% loyal to Rei, but after watching the series, i have watched EOE which was a big shock, and the movies had it's ups and it's downs, and of course the characters were updated to a new audience, but at the end of the day it's night.

@hideki @beardalaxy I didn't like Asuka when I watched the original, but I found what happens to her so pointless and anticlimatic that it was the point for me when I began to realize "nothing matters in this story" and stopped caring about any character in this series.

@Elfie @beardalaxy @hideki A sacrifice made with the intent of overcoming impossible odds should have some sort of meaning, Asuka just had a pointless delusional ego trip for 30 seconds before the batteries of her eva ran out, and the anime presents it as if it were her most heroic moment. This is what is lame, not the fact that she gets fucked at the end.

I'm not sure what you're referring to, if you mean the last scene against the mass produced EVAs then that's heroic, she didn't win because there was no winning scenario so I don't understand how that's lame

The main character was shinji so only he was going to get the spotlight regardless of the in-world reasons, a story in which only a side character defines it is a deeply flawed story, even if it ends up working anyways (vinland)
