I'm always delighted when random people I never even heard of have me blocked.

@lastprincess @matrix ive done that (to get rid of bots and annoying people from twkn, should i ever decide to waste my time looking at people i dont follow) but mutes work correctly in pleroma now, so i just use those mainly and reserve blocks for those i definitely dont want interacting with me
@lastprincess @matrix prevents those people from talking to you with something that you actually may want to hear. if someone is harassing you in mentions, then it makes sense to block, but when you block you sever a communication method completely

@wowaname @matrix like that's the whole point. To just cut toxic people out completely. If I would wanna interact with shit like that I'll go on Twitter. For me and for a lot of us Masto is a safe space

@lastprincess @matrix sorry to disappoint you @gargron invented the safespace mentality you now see on fedi. it hasnt always been like this and youre going to meet a LOT of people that compare to the likes of those you see on twitter (minus celebs and brands), and in ways its harder to filter all of that out because there are no rules on the fediverse, only those our instances make for us. and we are all free to make new accounts elsewhere

this platform isnt suitable as a safe space

@wowaname @lastprincess @Gargron Kinda defeats the purpose of using a open protocol if you want a safe space.

@matrix @wowaname @Gargron it's not tho? Giving people freedom to moderate however they want might be a good reason. People can create safe spaces tailored to their definition of "safe"
