Game journos just creamed their pants.

But this just shows that Stadia is just another AI training program.

@matrix Probably all modern FPS all already have predictive code because of network lag. Sometimes it predicts wrong and you see the game rewind for half a second (which is really annoying but unavoidable) but I can't imagine putting up with this on every game.
@moonman @matrix yeah and the networking prediction stuff is way more simple than simulating all input, they often have the more detailed stuff fully client side (view direction) and stuff like movement is easy to predict by just running physics further

@moonman
They do but not to this extent and it comes with it's set of issues. When do you trust who, etc.

@moonman @matrix actually, not really, i think most games, especially FPS use interpolation and delays, only prediction being "storing momentum and position to predict where player will be in next moment" and most games do not rewind, instead try to sync up. Rewinding is something GGPO does, which does predict user inputs and more, it's more advanced and usually used in fighting games where timing is crucial, and there game actually does rewind.
@matrix Finally Polygon will be able to get past undead asylum, it has been 3000 years

@matrix
If recent gaming has been any indication; the bigger the hype, the bigger the disappointment.

Then again, journos seem to be happier with this than the end-users. Streaming like this might as well die a new death having this project end up on one of those "Top 10 failed projects Google wants you to forget!" Click-bait articles.
