homo sapiens, as a species, has not gotten rid of the tail. It is a very rare phenotype, existing in a vanishingly small % of humanity...but we've still got it there. Really all we need is for the people with tails to have more sex/kids and for the ones who do have them to not get them chopped at birth to normalize them.
