@matrix I've been suicidal a couple of times with guns around. I've developed a bit of a ritual that helps with the dichotomy. I take my RIA 1911 (the cute officers model) and remove the magazine and clear the chamber. I then hold the gun aloft, and shout "HARK! I have the power of life and death! I hold the right of life! I have the power to revoke it! BEHOLD!" I then put the gun in my mouth and pull the trigger (under the palette, I'm not a silly billy) I then hold the gun up again and shout "HARK! I have the power, I hold it in my hand! I have not revoked the right of living!" And I do that until I don't feel depressed any more.

I think that suicide is a power grab, while depression is the feeling of being powerless. It's that simultaneous holding of power while feeling powerless that is the paradox, that is resolved through both reason and ritual

I stand over my plants, hold my 2011 ‘sunshower’ PP-23K99fa-2 Patriot Edition watering can over them and say “If I wanted I could kill you, you live by my assent, foul beast.” then I water them whilst telling them how proud I am of how big and fast they’re growing.

@SpaceElf @matrix aye, the mind cannot control things of the mind alone. Many things are mulled over with no potentiation in action, just charging around in a circle like a turbine. They must be acted out for stability sake, but the ways that most logically come about could be construed as sorts of hearth and hedge magic, or simple superstition like to spit when worried in the coal miner style
