Learning Linux feels like sacrificing your physical health ( probably half this guys life span), sex and social life for the sake of not wanting to give $100 to Bill Gates

@Publius @matrix

> not installing linux on the family desktop at an early age just so you don't mess up your dad's homework
@Publius @matrix er no. Learning Linux means doing with your computer what you want and not you are told to do and not having to buy a new computer each time there is a new windows because the new windows is too cumbersome and needs a better computer to do the same.

But you at your level wouldn't understand, especially as there is no "learning linux" to do, you can even install a "linux" that looks and feels like your windows.

Try opening a file with two different windows programs.

Try searching for a text in within multiple files in windows, by the time you even started figuring it out, I've written grep text *

I don't need an antivirus. I don't have to install a driver each time I use a new printer.

But you won't understand.

@orekix
To be charitable, the average population also got fatter in that time

@matrix

linux users get fatter as the kernel also gets more bloated
@orekix @matrix in this way, de raadt staying lean through all these years is also symbolic
@orekix @matrix mfw ultra skinny. At least I fit one nerd stereotype that way
@orekix @matrix I have xl shirts from the 90s that are larger than today's xxl shirts. People may have gained weight, but the shirts all got way smaller.

@orekix @matrix
This is kinda misleading imo, cause the first thing that comes to my mind, when seeing that, is that people are growing taller.

@deadheat @matrix @orekix
Maybe they've successfully kicked out the women, so the average height increased :blobshrug:

Seriously though, I'm 6'4", and XXL is the standard size for me. If you want to convince me that's a fatties chart, it should include 3XL and up.

@mushroom_soup @matrix @deadheat @orekix
It runs in the family. Every man on my fathers side of the family is at least 6'3".

@alyx @matrix @deadheat @orekix nice. My dad was 5'3 and my mom was five feet even. Awoo is 6'8" though so hopefully our children will be normal lol
@orekix @matrix Half of the XL XXL are chubbies and the other half are femboys wearing programming socks and oversized shirts to be cute.

@mushroom_soup @matrix
Given the size, I am in disbelief that there's only 1 skeleton inside him.

@matrix I want to be a surgeon. I want to know what his body looks like on the inside
@TrevorGoodchild @matrix yes I do I want to see it! Ive thought before about how interesting it would be to be a surgeon ...I think I would be good at it
@mushroom_soup @matrix @TrevorGoodchild I've hear really obese people can't get certain surgeries and doing any operation on them is harder to impossible.
@nameredacted @mushroom_soup @matrix Apparently obesity makes you a 'high-risk' patient off the bat. Your incisions are bigger, the surgery takes longer, your wounds don't heal properly, and you have a higher risk of post-op complications. Diabetes (also associated with obesity) adds to this. Some surgeons won't even offer elective procedures to fatties, particularly joint replacement and spine surgery.
@TrevorGoodchild @matrix @mushroom_soup Exactly the kind of surgery tubby needs after stressing everything with decades of tonnage.
@mushroom_soup @matrix well then be stubborn about it, start to study, get into medical school and then do a surgery residency :-)

mind you I am not saying this in a nasty way, it's not an impossible thing to do and people have even started medical school in their 50s. If you like surgery and curious about it, go ahead. Don't think you can't do it without even trying :-)
@mushroom_soup @matrix you never know. You can try first applying and then see if you get the money. Miracles happen :-)
@matrix It is pretty impressive that there are arch linux shirts large enough to use as a nautical sail
@matrix Is that a real person? I find it hard to believe he can stand up. I bet he can't anymore, or he ded.
@matrix package repositories are stored in the gunt
@matrix what does the average Artix user look like then? :ablobthinkingfast:
