@miria @tsukiko@freak.university You are asking me to prove 2+2=4
@applejack @miria @tsukiko@freak.university I have doubts about that. At least in the west. Yeah people married sooner or had symbolic marriages for purposes of wealth and power transfers, but I don't think that adults fucking preteens was common. The couple from Sneedsville made headlines meaning it was something you don't see every day.

Because it was late 19th, when it was shifting
This Roman/Greek one even explicitly says they married at 12 for procreation
They menstruate at 12 for a reason

@applejack @miria @tsukiko@freak.university Well the Greeks were retarded than. A big age gap between partners is much more likely to lead to an abusive relationship.
@applejack @miria @tsukiko@freak.university No. I would recommend the book Murderer next door. I don't have it on hand but there's a part about this.
Why? I dunno, maybe they just wanted to fuck kids. People in the past did a lot of weird or dumb stuff.
@applejack @miria @tsukiko@freak.university It talks about it in the context of women killing their partner.
Like I said people did a lot of weird, harmful and dumb stuff in the past and unless it yeeted 90% of the population it usually stuck around as a tradition.
@applejack
Technically all of them are, but not all developed due to environmental pressure, many exist purely as a ritual of your ingroup meaning they can be replaced with a different ritual.
Blood letting stuck around for an extremely long time so I don't think the argument that child marriage stuck around for a long time works.

@matrix @miria @tsukiko@freak.university Friend, please, I've posted 50000 sources saying 12-16 was typical, and it lines up with menarche (objective evolved trait), it wasn't a quirk
And are murderers really the case sample you want to extrapolate from?
