When you say sensitivity, I assume you're referring to frequency response?

That will change a fair bit depending in the gain setting of your amp.
Although I've never come across a situation where static would come through due to not enough oomph driving cans

@lunarised @matrix You can't trade sensitivity for ohms, that's just not how that works.

Your phone is not powering the headphones properly, hence the quiet. You need a more powerful headphone amp, or headphones that require less power.

A shorter cable than stock will not stop audible hiss/noise/static.

Oh, and Jack White is a notorious audiophile, AKA he records all his albums with analog studio equipment on tape, you're probably hearing the hiss from the analog tape equipment.

Jack White is one of those Audiophiles that has jumped off the deep end imo. In the year of our lord, digital recording is mathematically perfect on almost all avenues, and to me (and a bunch of experts on the matter) people like Jack White and Neil Young have opinions that cannot be justified as "better quality"

@lunarised @matrix the point of using analog equipment isn't to be representative IMO, even if some say it is for quality. Nothing like some odd order natural harmonics to give some warmth to the recording. Lots of people don't tolerate the noise though.

So I downloaded a few FLAC albums of the white stripes and I think you are right, I think it's a hiss from a tape. Jack White is a retard.
The shorter cable is better imho, unless I'm huffing major copium. The volume is now enough at 50%.

Also the short cable is straight up 3,5mm, while the long default one isn't so they ship a conversion with it.

The shorter a cable is the less noise it has, technically, but the stock cable is already well below the noise floor and I doubt it'll make a difference unless the problem is elsewhere in your chain (amp probably)
