@matrix They actually don’t have to worry about food all that much. Maybe in africa, but like, most places in south american have a fuck ton of produce just out there. Like, there are whole streets that pile up with inches of 3 pound mangoes that just rot in the sun because there’s simply too much for anyone to eat. Thing just propagate without limit, any bit of land that’s free will invariably sprout something after a rain and you’re off to the races. Fertile lands are crazy like that. You may not love what you can eat, but you’ll be eating.
Everything down there can be super fruitful and productive, it’s just a cultural thing that they don’t put a premium on it. They see the weird, american, “hurry up gotta be productive!” mentality as childish and pointless, they’re into measured, careful comfort wherever you can find it.
