Not too far a stretch as the navy gets more diverse,inclusive and dysfunctional. When

a ship AI would be the only think keeping every navy destroyer from ass ramming a tanker on a weekly basis.

And once we reach the singularity, the only hope to escape genocide at the hands of a paperclip maximizer, is to make the AI love us.
