@matrix@p I think the more insane stuff is layering roads via bridges being a normal thing in US. While freeways in the middle of cities I've seen that in europe few times, but they've typically been removed/repurposed in the last decade or so.
@matrix@p Layers thing typically means just moving the junctions somewhere else and having access ramps to go in/out of them. And when you do it US style it's several layers rather than just bridge across a highway kind of thing that's comparable to like a bridge across a railroad (while railroad crossings sucks).
@ergo@p@matrixwell, most cities on the grid layout were well after the mass adoption of cars here. You can see it plainly in East coast cities vs West coast...even the suburban areas after the car become more grid like in the older cities. New cities like Phoenix, or Las Vegas are perfect examples of this, as is Spokane Washington
