@realcaseyrollins Trying to use raw numbers to say that Whites suffer more violence is inaccurate.

I as a Black person am 2.135 times more likely to suffer police violence than my White neighbor, even though neither of us (to my knowledge) commits crimes.

If you have not taken statistics courses, please put those on your plate for next year. It is possible to have true figures (and statements) and be completely wrong because you're measuring the wrong thing.

In this case, raw numbers are the wrong thing to measure.
@lnxw37a2 "I as a Black person am 2.135 times more likely to suffer police violence than my White neighbor, even though neither of us (to my knowledge) commits crimes."

What are you basing that 2.135 stat on? You can find plenty of numbers that show that black people have more violent interaction with police, but that's largely because so many of them are poor and as a consequence end up committing more crimes where police get involved, and isn't necessarily an indicator of racism.

So if you're saying you're over 2x as likely to be a victim compared to a white in your neighborhood, this is based on a neighborhood-level analysis, right? @realcaseyrollins

@dave @lnxw37a2 I think you get that number when you multiply any stats regarding blacks to scale it up to the white population, as far more white people interact with law enforcement than black people

@dave @lnxw37a2 P.S. I use arrests are rates of interaction because I haven't been able to find hard stats on things like questionings on the streets or traffic stops

@dave @lnxw37a2 BTW I did run my own stats, which generally found that the rate of being shot to death by police by race in relation to being arrested is fairly negligible, 0.007% for blacks in comparison to 0.006% for whites.
