An interesting thing about Soapbox FE is that it intentionally omits Like (& EmojiReact) user lists.

I think that was a good decision. Likes are subtle data that should not be taken too seriously. People Like a post for a variety of reasons. So I think the interface should not place undue emphasis on it. Although Likes are in the public record, and could be viewed by other frontends (not sure what I think about that yet).

@alex I understand your reasoning here, but I think that this option should be left up to the users, or at least the admins.

@realcaseyrollins Ultimately the choice is up to the user. They could view the server in Fedilab, etc.

I want Likes to be invisible in the UI, but somehow the users still understand that they're public record. Impossible design predicament. But that's what happens when you don't control the whole Fediverse.

@alex Yeah, true. I'm just a super big fan of maximum user choice, so I guess that's where my complaint comes from.

It's not a big deal tho.

@realcaseyrollins @mewmew Thing is, we could also give users the choice to see DMs. But collectively (for the most part) the Fediverse is playing fair in that regard.
