@realcaseyrollins Mainly android was developed to be as broken and retarded as possible. This was accomplished masterfully. They started from the best possible position (linux) and proved beyond all doubt that there is nothing so beautiful that you can’t ruin it by rubbing enough shit in it.
@shebang @realcaseyrollins There should be an actual GNU+Linux distro for phones and not some shitty OS that happens to use the Linux kernel.
* Microsoft -- the incentive is to keep the OS usable for a few years.
* Toshiba / Samsung / etc -- the incentive is to try to sell you more hardware in two years.
@lnxw37a2 Do you think #Google will ever try and change their model? I just don't understand why they would put so much effort into OSes that will be used by so few people...I'm quite sure some releases will end up getting leapfrogged altogether.
They've offered some lip service to fix this over the past couple of years but I'm seeing minimal results, part of that because--guess what? That was part of their new OS, which, of course, hardly anyone would get.
@realcaseyrollins @lnxw37a2 shebang has said it well on a post above. In the end, Unix in every pocket, all over the planet. But a compromissed one, as Android has lots of problems. Newer versions are for people consuming new devices on a contstant consumerism cycle.
We don’t need that. The devices have great hardware but oh so crappy op systems.
