@p's singleuser.club thing is pretty neat.

If I ever make an instance (which btw I only would do if I can accept donations because muh sustainability) I'd love to send excess donations to the project.

BTW the earliest I plan on making my own instance is after the fall semester, but I might buy the hardware during the semester if an RPi will be enough for hosting.

@alex is there a way to have the settings page of a instance go to the option, but still have be the main interface? The FE settings have a lot of features * importing follows cough cough * that aren't included in yet

@realcaseyrollins Short answer: no, sorry.

Long answer: Most of the Pleroma FE settings are useless to Soapbox FE anyway since they only configure the frontend.

Importing followers is obviously useful, and it's planned for a future release. The reason I didn't prioritize it is because the target audience of Soapbox FE is new users, not existing user. I'll try to get it out ASAP but a lot of people want a lot of different stuff. Maybe you can learn React and help us out. 😛

@alex Hmm...I'd love to, but between work, a summer class, and a certain someone 😏 😏 😏 I don't really have the bandwidth to learn a new programming language atm

@realcaseyrollins I think you are better off using an old laptop or modded game console. You could probably find a use one for the same price as a SBC, but with much more power.

@realcaseyrollins Single board computer. Basically what the Raspberry Pi is.

@realcaseyrollins :bigbosssalute:

It's actually not too expensive to run one, but I'll toss you a free one if you want and donations are possible to add. Like, there's no tooling in Pleroma for it yet but you can put arbitrary stuff into your instance panel, etc.
@realcaseyrollins Yeah, right now it's just two domains, so you can bring your own domain or pick a subdomain of singleuser.club or fedi.live and an admin name and some text for your about page.
