@xianc78 too dead, not even released in Japan and pretty much haven't been recognized much by Nintendo at all compared to a shitloads of other franchises

@coolboymew I always wondered if StarTropics could ever get somewhat of a cult following in Japan much like how Mother/Earthbound got one in the west. It would probably get Nintendo to give that dead franchise more attention.

@xianc78 Funny, I've been wondering the same

I wonder if Startropics 1 and 2 and something like Secret of Evermore got a big cult following in Japan, much like how we've been wanting Seiken Densetsu 3 and other similar games for years

I have a few Japanese bros following me, but I wonder if they'll find this post and if they're big gamers like we are though

@coolboymew Tomato from the Mother 3 translation project was working on a Japanese fan translation of the first game. I don't know if he plans to finish it though. Apparently, the Japanese "alphabet" (I don't know if it is called that) contains too many characters for the engine to support without major tweaking to the code.

I don't know how many Japanese gamers are aware of the series though. The only reference of the series that the Japanese may have seen was one of the alternate costumes for ROB in Smash, but they probably didn't understand the reference.

@xianc78 nice

But changing the code is sometimes inevitable. For example, Nanashi no Game on DS had top to bottom traditional text, they had to hack it significantly to have normal display text
