In the west? PFFFFFFTTTTTTTTT fat chance. Ever wanted to make a book and hope it's gonna get a kickass animation? You practically have better chances of Japan actually picking it up than getting an animated series, and a good one at that, in the west
@coolboymew @matana @mrsaturday I can't remember any specifics but I do know that there are some cartoons out there that started as web comics or flash animations (and relatively obscure ones at that), but I think they were short lived. My guess is that they probably already had connections.
@coolboymew @matana @mrsaturday I remember back during the late 2000s and early 2010s a lot of flash cartoons and web comics were getting picked up by networks like Cartoon Network and Disney Channel, but this was before the animation renaissance of the mid-2010s, so they were probably desperate for new cartoons, especially Disney Channel which is more known for teen girl sitcoms. It was like how back in the 90s and early 2000s, these networks would have blocks for short cartoons that would later be picked up as full-series if they were successful enough.
