Hot take:
"Conv*rsion Th*rapy" was probably doable back when being "g*y" was defined by actions and not an identity. e.g. when it was "stop having constant sex with strangers".
Now it's broadened to a vague identity that includes "I looked at femboy lewds once and liked it".

There's people out there who identify as g*y without any lifestyle elements, their entire identity is built around gay porn (which is fake and idealized to an absurd degree) or one night stands.
Especially in hentai, loads of yaoi is just straight porn with an extra penis drawn on.

If your standard is that someone stop finding idealized forms attractive, you are setting up conditions that are impossible to meet. If it is "stop banging five strangers a night" (like early bathhouse culture) then it's just addiction treatment.

In other words, redefining it as an identity (and actually all in people's heads, "born that way" rhetoric has flown the coop) instead of a set of actions both helps with recruitment and makes it impossible to "leave" the lifestyle. It also allows a narrative of fear to be painted, where "genocide" is around every corner.
@TheQuQu

We always knew there was no such thing as born gay, we just got shouted down by liberal women about it like with every other encroachment of degeneracy.

@Senpai-kun @TheQuQu
I'm starting to think that being gay, lesbian, or bisexual is really just a fetish much like how people sexualize non-sexual body parts. It's not a choice, but it's probably not something you're born with either. Unfortunately, sexual fetishes are permanent once you acquire them, at least to my knowledge.

@xianc78 @Senpai-kun @TheQuQu Fetishism works through a an analogy/symbol and a process of suspension of disbelief. You "acquire" a fetish when you sink into that state of suspended disbelief automatically, through habit. You get rid of it by understanding that analogy and reversing the habit by strengthening your disbelief
@xianc78 @Senpai-kun @TheQuQu You'll always remember how the symbol/analogy worked so you'll always be able to get it back unless you forget it somehow, but you won't be "into it" without a fair bit of effort, usually through gradual downwards steps
@Senpai-kun @TheQuQu @xianc78 This can take a very long time and the rate of progress is entirely up to the grace of the Holy Spirit

@Lizard @Senpai-kun @TheQuQu Just entering it into a search engine, I get that the answer is no and that all you can do it just "suppress" it by getting your mind off of it, but it never fully goes away. It's probably the same argument that gay conversion therapy changes conduct and not sexual orientation.

I can't find any peer-research articles though. Just a bunch of blog, forum, and Q&A site posts. Not good enough sources probably.

@xianc78 @Lizard @Senpai-kun Sexual orientation is a very recently invented concept anyway. It's pretty incomprehensible.

@TheQuQu @Senpai-kun @Lizard Yeah, but I have a good feeling that I'm completely asexual and aromantic, but that's something completely different than being gay or having a fetish.

@xianc78 @TheQuQu @Senpai-kun What do you mean by "asexual"? I've only ever heard it in terms of people who have 500 e621.net tabs open identifying as it

@Lizard @Senpai-kun @TheQuQu I'm not interested in sex or romantic relationships. I'm not an attention whore about it and it doesn't really bother me.

@xianc78 @Senpai-kun @TheQuQu When you say "not interested in", what do you mean? That you're not attracted to them at all or that you wouldn't want to pursue anything? I won't ask what there are but do you have other fetishes etc like many 'asexuals' claim to?
Follow

@Lizard @Senpai-kun @TheQuQu I'm simply not sexually or romantically attracted to anyone and I don't really have any desire for romantic relationships. I enjoy friendships of both genders and I think just having a good social life is all what matters in the end. It's not something that bothers me unlike these SJWs that try to be snowflakey about it. The SJWs trying to make a big deal about it is what bothers me.

>do you have other fetishes etc like many 'asexuals' claim to?
Never heard about anything like that. I do know some asexuals masturbate, but still don't desire to actually have sex.
