PC game developers release a censored version with an uncensor patch to get around the platform censorship (like Steam).
It's a good workaround and better than being forced to use the censored version.

However, if you sell your game directly on your website, you can do it in the opposite direction; sell your game uncensored, and release an optional censorship DLC for the puritans and the woke (and of course all the other anti-freedom authoritarians), or otherwise don't target these motherfuckers and have a based-only version, authoritarians won't buy your games anyway, they're only there to push their own agenda.

As a bonus, since you're selling your game directly without any stupid middlemen, you don't need to be put up with a 30% cut and/or platform fees if there are any.
@ryo
Reminder the pc-98 was a based platform because most games were doujins as opposed to the FM towns and x68k, which had some but not as much since literally everyone and their workplace and school had a pc98.
@PhenomX6 Talking about computers in current year, not the 90's.
@ryo
I agree too. Modern Japanese PC gaming I've grown to appreciate because that's the spirit that continued, the whole self distributed game mindset not beholden to Steam.

@PhenomX6 @ryo Even itch.io which is suppose to be more indie friendly is run by SJWs. Just look at their blog posts or look at how 80% of the gamedevs their participated in their Burn Loot Murder bundle. Last time I checked, they had an LGBT category on their front page.

@xianc78 @ryo Average itch.io game: You're trans, your dad is a bitch, it's a fucking "visual novel" because western gamedevs see it as the ultimate "lazy gamedev" game format without thinking of art/music, and it comes off as someone making their Discord vent channel diatribes into game format.

I'm talking about games like Secret Little Haven, Dys4ia, etc.
@xianc78 @ryo The other thing about itch.io is they are one of the worst websites when it comes to removing any game that isn't politically kosher or is the target of hit pieces. They're the PayPal of game distribution services in that manner.

The punchline is unlike Steam, there's not even a good excuse for it. Steam lets normie McDonalds coworkers see your game, itch.io is only used by hipster circlejerks who don't buy games and just want shelf trophies of old games they never play and books they never read. You know, the game version of name 3 songs. Keep in mind, Steam has removed games for numerous reasons including being too controversial (a multiplayer game where one side is a school shooter and one stops him while gmod school shooters are a real thing), referencing blacklisted political figures (Heimat Defender, which is funny because Tonight We Riot is a pro-antifa game allowed on Steam as even the devs of Heimat Defender pointed out), and of course an accidental Xi Pooh joke (Devotion).

Heimat Defender I haven't played but a friend did, and it really feels like someone on the fedi made it because holy shit the memes it uses (despite being in German) are 100% universal and even the same ones used here. It was pulled by Steam because the minute it got uploaded for free online, hit pieces from the German and at least one USA media source called it this crazy Nazi game because it featured far-right political figures fighting Globohomo Corp. (this is literally the plot btw).

@PhenomX6 @ryo I'm afraid that they might pull a Twitch and start enforcing off-site conduct (if they haven't already). I can see gamedevs here on fedi (non SJW-side) or /agdg/ getting their games removed just for being on those communities if not also because of the opinions espoused by those gamedevs.

I find it ironic because I remember the early days of itch.io, they said they will allow anything that didn't contain illegal content. They even supported crypto at one point, but I don't know if they do anymore. But now it just seems to fallen to the cancer of the modern indie game community.

@xianc78 @PhenomX6 @beardalaxy Jeez, off-site conduct.
Reminds me to those idiots who are trying so hard to cancel me on an instance where saying "JewTube" is not an offense at all, but for whatever weird reason it is on Mastodon.soycial and Chaos.soycial, so based on THEIR rules they decided I should be kicked off from an instance they can't control.
yup...
Try all you want, not gonna happen, because fortunately this instance isn't run by some government brainwashed retard.
