@beardalaxy @xianc78 @ryo On one hand, I agree. The game I end up making would definitely change names around to not be recognizable if IRL events are mentioned whatsoever. I say that because while Heimat Defender got targeted by the European versions of the ADL and journalists for having problematic real world politicians and activists be main characters, Team SNEED is allowed to exist on Steam. They might as well be a 2020s version of Happysoft or RWS.

Their two games very clearly satirize the modern west and their fucking Steam company image is a Sneed Groyper (probably because the Pepe guy had a meltdown and removed emojis of them from Steam as opposed to having ties with a certain washed-up eceleb). Their first game is CUCKHOLD SIMULATOR and it makes fun of the typical Redditor, while TYRONE vs COPS is more explicit in what it parodies. Both games really feel like something EDF or /v/ would churn out if they had asset stores and more time.

On the other hand, if what Xianc says came true than we'd both be fucked. I would for sure, without powerleveling too much let's just say I've pissed off a lot of people online in the past and I'm sure others on the fedi have too under other usernames. And even if they didn't, none of us have corporate/establishment approved political views.

The trick is, you gotta get some fuck you money first or not be tied to any sort of company that'll fuck you over and leave you in legal limbo/drama like with Tim Soret. His game still isn't out yet. Freedom Planet 2 is probably going to come out beforehand. The blackpilled part of me thinks it's going to suck, even though Tim seems well versed on the Dead Internet Theory with his personal schizoposting being about how AI is going to ruin human culture with soulless garbage.

I think merely having an account on any Fedi instance that is freeze peach is already cancel worthy even if most of us here aren't /pol/-tards because people these days immediately assume "free speech community" means "far-right echo-chamber".

You used to be able to shill your indie game on 4chan without being cancelled. Granted, it was a few years before the whole culture war we're experiencing now, but 4chan was still thought of as an awful place by the mainstream at the time. Had the culture war and cancel culture existed at the time, we would probably never see games like Minecraft rise to the success they have now.

Hell, I remember people actively shilling their games on 8chan back in 2015. I think even Undertale creator, Toby Fox was active on there. And while there still is a game dev community on the various 8chan bunkers, advertising your game on any of them would probably be a death sentence now. THQ Nordic was lucky to have their AMA before Christchurch happened. Otherwise, God knows what would've happened to them.

@xianc78 @PhenomX6 @beardalaxy @ryo THQ still got a lot of shit for that ama, so it probably would have been even worse.

Mainly gaming/nerd instance for people who value free speech. Everyone is welcome.
