pretty neutral on activitypub the protocol. a lot of it derived from pump protocol which existed first (I know evan p. worked on both) but the fact is that mastodon took off before activitypub and while a good move to switch, didn't strictly need to switch to continue its momentum. the reason people came was because of mastodon's user interface.

@Moon ActivityPub is a bloated piece of shit. twtxt is where it's at. It's RSS but for microposts.

@xianc78 in the interest of fairness i'll read it over again because the last time i read it was right after it was introduced. one thing that really stuck out to me was that your file just grows forever.

it scales v poorly if it was going to try to match activitypub levels of activity but it's fine for a quiet network w/ few participants

@rats @Moon Yarn.social has made unofficial extensions to the protocol to make it somewhat more usable. Yarn is basically trying to be the Pleroma of twtxt.
