From someone who has been in the furry community for years, I can confirm this is a very, very, real problem and to make matters worse these people tend to flourish when people shield/ignore them, even moreso than pedophiles because zoophile porn is ignored by the feds usually. Case in point; an old post about a zoophile who got away with it for being a popular fursuit maker and artist for years. It only caught up to her when she was apologizing to Twitter and they found her recent dog abuse videos.

I've run into way more open zoophiles who spill their spaghetti to random people or who send unsolicited dogfucking videos than I have pedos in that community, it's a real problem.
