I'm pretty sure this Invidious situation might be resolved, but that doesn't change the fact that if you make videos you shouldn't rely on YouTube. PLEASE consider uploading to other sites, including hosting them on your own.

HTML5's <video> tag should've killed YouTube. Part of the reason why YouTube got so popular was because people were tired of having to install multiple plug-ins just to watch videos. Some websites required Windows Media Player, others required QuickTime, others required Flash, others required RealPlayer. YouTube, using a flash-based video player at the time allowed pretty much anyone to watch their videos because almost every Internet user had Adobe Flash installed.

@PurpCat Never heard of that. And looking it up doesn't show me anything.

@xianc78 Sam Hyde did a show called fishtank and within a day it went down due to maxing bandwidth
@xianc78 The interesting thing is that YouTube got popular on short clips. Nowadays no one uploads short clips to YouTube because videos have to be ten minutes long to be monetized. It's like they purposely made room for a competitor to disrupt them. TikTok now dominated the short videos market.

I'm not a video creator, but I would definitely upload to peertube f I did.
